Outdoor Marriage Preparation Ideas
Many people who are thinking about getting wed would like to organize an outdoor marriage, saying their vows on a deserted beach or on another favourite outdoor spot. Are you one of them? Maybe it has even been since your childhood that you have thought about an outdoor wedding, saying yes to your loved one while the wind plays in your hair.
Now the day for outdoor marriage may finally be approaching, but while starting to plan the event there are lots if questions that come to your mind, and many of them are related to the setting and decoration of the wedding venue. For instance, how to make the setting comfortable? How to manage light and noise during the wedding?
Most of the issues with outdoor marriage can be easily overcome, and this is especially true for the decoration of the setting. Bear in mind that for most outdoor weddings, decoration is twice as important as normally, as the ceremony and the reception will take place in the same area.
Another advantage of outdoor marriage is that most outside locations are already ornamented to a certain extent, so your costs for flowers and other dcor will be lessened. You just have to make sure that everything fits, and you may want to add a specially decorated area for the wedding ceremony, to add focus.
One of the first things that you should spare a thought on is the lighting. At what time of the day will the outdoor wedding take place, and will you mainly be using natural or artificial lighting? Should you supplement natural light with lamps or torches? Does the way to the venue need extra light, such as on paths or parking spaces? Decorations are useless if they cannot be seen!
If the marriage is going to take place during the day, you should avoid placing the ceremony area in a way that the wedding guests will end up looking directly into the light. Turning the main view of the ceremony at right angles to the direction of sunlight at the corresponding time is a good idea.
Do also consider the extra accessories that you may need to shield all the wedding participants against the elements. Sunshades are important in the hot weather, not only for the guests but also for the food, cake and beverages. And if rain could be an occurrence, rent a bunch of umbrellas to have ready for your guests. Consider outdoor heaters against cold weather if the outdoor marriage will take place in winter.
Another thing that you need to consider for an outdoor marriage venue is the risk of wind gusts. Make sure that any candles or open fires that you use are well shielded or they may go out, or worse, ignite some of the decoration. Heavy decoration items such as wide and low bowls for flowers are good to hold down tablecloths.
It’s important to consider the impact of noise as well. Many splendid areas that suit themselves for outdoor marriage are not miles away from civilization, but next to a major road. If the spot of your dreams is like that, you will have to organize some sort of noise screen so that the guests can hear the ceremony and can ignore the engine noise.
While decorating and arranging the venue for outdoor marriage, you need to make sure that people with limited mobility, such as elderly people or pregnant women, will be able to access the venue easily and to move around without problems. Make sure that there are wheelchair paths, if necessary.
